Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III said Monday he is asking that a 28-year-old Mechanicville man be sentenced to nine years in state prison for three separate home burglaries.
Michael J. Torturo, 28, of 11 Burrello Court, Mechanicville, pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree burglary Friday. All three were residential burglaries that occurred while no one was home, Murphy said in a statement.
The first was on May 9 in Halfmoon, the second May 11 in Greenfield, the third May 29 in Saratoga Springs.
Police said Torturo took jewelry, cash and electronics in these burglaries, then sold them at pawn shops for cash.
He was apprehended in Albany County and admitted to the burglaries in Saratoga County while being questioned by police.
A sample of Torturo’s DNA taken at the time of his arrest matched a DNA profile connected to the Saratoga Springs case, Murphy said.
His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 25.
