Authorities say a Warrensburg man’s son fired the shot that killed him while he hunted with his two sons in the Adirondacks last weekend.
The Warren County sheriff’s office said 53-year-old Terry Lavergne died from a bullet fired by his son, 23-year-old James Lavergne of Glens Falls. Police say Terry Lavergne’s 22-year-old son was also hunting with them when the shooting occurred Saturday morning in the town of Chester.
Authorities say the elder Lavergne was in brush when he was shot in the torso.
Police say they don’t plan to charge James Lavergne, but the district attorney could present the case to a grand jury.
