The Cohoes Police Department is investigating an alleged verbal threat made by a Cohoes High School student to a teacher.
The student threatened a teacher in class, saying, "I am going to shoot her with a gun," according to a report on the school district website.
The threat was reported to administrators, who immediately contacted the Cohoes Police Department. Police officers responded to the school where they questioned the student, and removed the student from the school and brought the student to the police station. No weapons were found at the school and all students and faculty at the school followed a routine schedule.
“Any threat to our students or staff is taken very seriously,” said Superintendent Robert K. Libby. “Their safety is our number one priority.
"While this is a police matter and is being handled as such, the student who made the alleged threat will not return to school until the process for a disciplinary hearing that we have in place under our Code of Conduct has been fully exhausted."
