Galway schools are expected to be open again Monday, after classes were cancelled Friday due to illness.
The district acted after a stomach virus-type illness spread among students, faculty and support personnel in recent days. All district buildings were closed Friday so maintenance staff could clean and disinfect throughout the buildings, in hope of stopping the illness from spreading.
Afterschool and evening activities were also cancelled.
"We were there Thursday night, and the custodians were working diligently to disinfect the school," said Board of Education member Dennis Schaperjahn.
District administrators weren't available Friday. Saratoga County Public Health Director Karen Levison said her office was not notified of the illness outbreak.
Those who were ill reported headaches, fever and vomiting, according to the district website.
