State police say a man shot his estranged wife’s boyfriend to death with a semi-automatic rifle and then turned the weapon on himself in a murder-suicide in Rensselaer County.

It happened early Sunday morning in Schaghticoke. Troopers say 37-year-old Joseph Fisher entered the home of his estranged wife, Jamie Fisher, at 180 South Hudson Ave. around 8 a.m. Sunday. After a confrontation, police say Fisher left and came back with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

Police say Fisher shot his wife’s boyfriend, 24-year-old Chris Cammuso multiple times, killing him.

Police say Fisher then went next door to his wife’s grandmother’s house, where he fatally shot himself.

The Fishers’ two children, age 11 and 13, were at the scene when the shootings took place.

South Hudson Avenue is located just across the Hudson River from Mechanicville in the Hemstreet Park section.
