A military-style semi-automatic rifle was the weapon used in a murder-suicide early Sunday morning in Hemstreet Park, state police said.

An AR-15-type weapon was employed by Joe Fisher, 37, of Mechanicville, who shot his estranged wife's new boyfriend and then himself at about 8:16 a.m. on South Hudson Avenue in the small hamlet across the Hudson River from Mechanicville.

Fisher is accused of shooting Chris Cammuso, 24, of Mechanicville, and then turning the gun against himself while standing in the driveway of his wife's grandmother next door.

Troopers say Joseph Fisher entered the home of his estranged wife, Jamie Fisher, at 180 South Hudson Ave. After a confrontation, police say Fisher left and came back with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

The Fishers’ two children, age 11 and 13, were at the scene when the shootings took place.
