A Milton man stands accused of drunken driving after an accident Sunday off South Broadway, city police said.
William D. Bell, 25, of Lewis Road, was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, a felony; aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; and following too closely, a violation.
Police said that around 7 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a personal injury rear-end accident on West Fenlon Street near the intersection with South Broadway.
While responding to the call, officers were advised that the striking vehicle in the accident was leaving the scene.
Police said a witness to the accident began following the vehicle through the Avenue of the Pines to Geyser Road, and then to the Grande Industrial Park, providing the information to a police dispatcher as he went.
That led to officers stopping Bell, who they said appeared intoxicated while being interviewed. He was arrested and held pending arraignment in city court.
Police said the injuries to the victim, whom they did not identify, were minor.
