State police say a 58-year-old man and two young children have escaped with just minor injuries after their vehicle crashed and rolled over on the Thruway.
Troopers say Ronald Hoyt of Albany was driving in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 late Tuesday afternoon when he had a coughing fit triggered by a medical condition.
Hoyt lost control of his vehicle, causing it to veer off the highway and hit a guard rail. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof at the bottom of a 15-foot embankment between exits 24 and 25 in the town of Guilderland.
Hoyt and two children in the vehicle, ages 3 and 6, were treated at an Albany hospital for minor injuries. He was ticketed for failing to stay in his lane.
