A Queens man faces a felony drugged-driving charge after a one-vehicle crash on the New York State Thruway this afternoon.
State police said they received several calls about an eastbound vehicle being driven erratically around 1 p.m. Before the red SUV could be located, however, troopers said it crashed into guiderails in the median.
The driver, Ranjit Singh, 55, of Flushing, and his 14-year-old daughter were not injured, troopers said, but Singh was taking more than the prescribed amount of a controlled substance and was found to be legally impaired as a result.
Singh was charged with a felony count of aggravated driving while ability impaired by drugs, as well as endangering the welfare of a child and traffic violations. He was arraigned in Florida Town Court and sent to the Montgomery County jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
His daughter was released to her mother, who drove from New York City to pick her up.
