Two Saratoga County residents were charged with grand larceny and possession of drugs after a shoplifting incident at the Walmart on Route 9 in the town of Queensbury.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of shoplifting that had occurred on Jan. 7. The suspects had fled the store in a vehicle.

Sheriff’s deputies located the vehicle heading south on the Northway and were able to stop the vehicle and recover the stolen merchandise, according to a police statement.

Based on the results of their investigation the police charged Michelle A. Cottrell, 23, of Burnt Hills, and Justin M. Dingman, 29, of Middle Grove each with counts of grand larceny as well as criminal possession of a controlled substance. Cottrell was also charged with one count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Both Cottrell and Dingman were arraigned in the Queensbury Town Court and taken to the Warren County jail for lack of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond.
