Gazette dance critic Wendy Liberatore's picks

>• Performances at EMPAC are always on the odd side. Artist Kris Verdonck and choreographer Alix Eynaudi are no exception with “Exit,” a work that aims to lull its audience to sleep. Pillows will be provided. Jan. 25.

• Hip-hop revs “Wake-Up,” a daring new work about death and redemption by Rennie Harris. Performed by the sleek PHILADANCO at The Egg, the new work will be offered with other contemporary dances. March 1.

• Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal at MASS MoCA will demonstrate its thrilling fusion of styles to music as diverse as Philip Glass and The Andrews Sisters. March 2 and 3.

• Turning Japanese will be a pleasure with Kodo, an ensemble that combines heady dancing with sacred taiko drumming at Proctors. March 29.

• For a delightful evening of surprising illusion, buy a ticket to Pilobolus, which will twist and fly into eye-catching tableaux at The Egg. April 21.
