Local teacher Joe Spano’s spin on ABC’s Wheel of Fortune landed him a new car and a trip Curaçao.
The 27-year-old substitute, who also is trained as a stuntman, was the top contestant on the popular game show Thursday, landing an impressive $29,310 in prizes. Wearing red pants, a maroon shirt and a bow tie, Spano won the Chevy Sonic after solving the second puzzle.
He won the Caribbean trip after solving the third puzzle of the show, which landed him a berth to the bonus round. But his success ended there, after the four letters he chose failed to reveal enough of the puzzle for him to win the grand prize: A Toyota Land Cruiser.
That didn’t bother Spano though.
“Oh, I already got one,” he said.
