Two men have been accused of running a scheme in which $12,000 in food was stolen from a town of Ballston business over a period of nine months.
David M. Cummings, 41, of Ellen Lane, Glenville, and Joseph M. Martuscello, 43, of Nottingham Way North, Clifton Park, were charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, after an investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the men acted in concert, one as an employee of the business and the other as a customer. Each time the customer would pick up a food order, the employee would add additional products, deputies said.
The scheme was repeated numerous times and was discovered after an inventory and review of video surveillance. The men were arrested Jan. 18. They were arraigned in Ballston Town Court and scheduled to return to court next month.
