Two Warren County residents have been charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property for allegedly stealing a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, valued at $2,499, from its owner last week.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office discovered on Monday the dog was at an apartment in John Burke Apartments in Queensbury.
Police arrested Shawn A. Hewitt, 21, and Gabrielle VanBrielle, 22, both of Queensbury on charges of felony criminal possession of stolen property. Hewitt was also charged with obstruction of governmental administration for his alleged efforts to avoid arrest on a parole warrant.
VanBrielle was also charged with a misdemeanor of hindering prosecution for allegedly hiding Hewitt wanted on the parole warrant.
The dog was recovered and turned over to the owner. A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small spaniel classed as a toy dog by The Kennel Club.
