Voters in the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District voted today for the newly merged district to be governed by a seven-member board of education, with members serving three-year terms.

According to results posted on the district's Facebook page, 250 district residents cast ballots for a seven-member board, with 51 voting for a five-person board and 44 voting for a nine-member governing body.

Meanwhile, 224 residents voted in favor of three-year terms, with 73 casting ballots for four-year terms and 36 voting for five-year terms.

The new district was agreed to by voters late last year and will come into existence on July 1.

Petitions for residents interested in running for the board of education will be available beginning Feb. 6, and completed petitions must be returned no later than Feb. 25. The election will take place March 19, with staggered terms of one, two and three years being awarded in order of finish in the final tally.
