Loyola held Siena without a field goal for the final 10:33 and cruised past the Saints, 53-37, Saturday afternoon at Reitz Arena.

The 37 overall points and 11 second-half points were both season lows for Siena, which was just 3-for-22 from the field in the second half and only 11-for-46 (23.9 percent) for the game.

Siena (8-13, 4-6), which entered the day tied for sixth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and only a game out of third, missed a golden opportunity to move up.

Loyola (9-12, 4-6) won its third in a row after having lost five straight to pull even with the Saints. Siena’s offense, which had averaged 62.7 points over the past six games, couldn’t muster much, especially in the second half.

After Kate Zarotney’s jumper pulled Siena within 39-33 with 10:33 left, the Saints missed their final nine shots to close out the game scoring just four points from the free-throw line.

MAAC preseason player of the year Katie Sheahin, who missed Siena’s 10-point win over Loyola two weeks ago, was just 2-for-12 from the field, but still led Loyola in scoring with 12 points, and also had nine rebounds.

Alyssa Sutherland had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Greyhounds.

Loyola denied Siena’s inside attack, limiting the Saints to just 10 points in the paint.

Lily Grenci, who entered the day leading the MAAC in scoring at 17.9 points in conference games, finished with a quiet 13 points on 2-for-10 shooting, and missed all six of her second-half field-goal attempts.

Colonie High graduate Tehresa Coles added nine points for the Saints, and Zarotney scored eight, going 4-for-4 from the field. Zarotney has made 23 of her last 27 field-goal attempts (85.2 percent).

Siena concludes a stretch of nine of 13 games on the road Friday at Manhattan at 7 p.m.
