Police are searching for a handgun that witnesses say a Gloversville man fired in the direction of his father and 11-year-old brother Saturday night.

Gloversville police say they charged Lovell Armstrong, 22, of 33 Clyde St., with first-degree menacing and first-decree reckless endangerment, both felonies.

Witnesses in the area heard gunfire and called police to the residence of Armstrong’s father at 28 Grand St. Investigators say Armstrong left the scene in a white BMW but Johnstown police pulled him over.

Police allege Armstrong went to his father’s residence to confront him before displaying a handgun and firing a shot in the direction of his father and young brother.

Police did not find any bullet holes nor a bullet casing and believe the handgun may be a revolver, which doesn’t automatically eject spent casings.

Armstrong was arraigned by City Court Judge Traci DiMezza and sent to the Fulton County Jail without bail.

An investigation continues. Detective Sgt. Mike Jory said anyone with information can contact the Gloversville Police Department at 773-4569.
