Plainsmen gearing up for boys' rematch with Bison

Shenendehowa’s balance was too much for Ballston Spa in a key Suburban Council boys’ basketball matchup Tuesday night.

The Plainsmen remained in title contention with a 70-23 victory as four players scored in double figures.

Kevin Huerter (12), Teddy McCarthy (11), Drew Zlogar (11) and Brandon Fischer (11) netted twin figures for the 11-3, 11-4 Plainsmen, who put nine players in the scoring column overall. They are one game behind division leader Shaker, and visit the Bison on Friday.

The Blue Bison ripped Sar­atoga Springs, 67-50, behind Dave Mor­rison’s 20 points and eight rebounds. Andrew Holmes chipped in with 13 points for 12-2, 14-2 Shaker, which sank 21 of 31 shots from the foul line.

The Blue Streaks (5-8, 7-9) got 18 points from Nate Arciero and 14 from Nicholas Smith.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake used 22 points from Rob Knightes and 16 from Austin Nydegger to beat Niskayuna, 62-56.

Brent Oliver’s 20 points and Aaron Gordon’s 18 topped 3-13 Niskayuna.

Conrad Zampier netted 14 of his game-high 29 points in the decisive fourth quarter to lift visiting Col­umbia over Averill Park, 56-51.

Bethlehem rode 14 points from John Sica to beat Colonie, 51-40.

Jake Samuels led Colonie with 16 points.

Guilderland crushed Mohonasen, 61-37, behind Marc DuMoulin’s 18 points.

Jeff Wicks scored 11 points for the Mighty Warriors.

In a Big 10 game, Demere Hannah poured in 24 points as Bishop Maginn stopped Amsterdam, 56-40.

Hanna scored seven points in an 18-5 second-quarter spurt and eight more in the third quarter to lift the Griffins, who also got 11 points from Derrick Thomas.

Also in the Big 10, Ralph Erickson poured in 25 points, and Elijah Burns scored 20 as LaSalle pounded Albany, 75-47.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk outscored Cohoes, 22-12, in the final period en route to a 62-59 Colonial Council victory.

David Warnken tossed in 17 points, Christian Hodson netted 14 points, and Desmond Williams added 10 for the Indians.

Elijah Newsome and Shelton Alston scored 20 and 19 points, res­pectively, for the 9-3, 9-6 Tigers.

Lansingburgh evened its record at 8-8 overall with a 61-52 triumph over Mechanicville.

Malik Miller scored 17 points, and Donte Carr knocked down five threes en route to 15 points for the Knights.

Mike Cannizzo scored 13, and Nate Hatalsky chipped in with 12 for the Red Raiders.

Will Turner made all 10 of his free-throw attempts and finished with 18 points to spark Fonda-Fultonville past Cobleskill-Richmondville, 64-31.

Ryan Derby added 13 points for the Braves. Chris Koeberle netted 10 for the Bulldogs.

Nick Daversa’s layup with a couple of seconds left helped Schalmont edge Voorheesville, 64-62.

Lucas Curtin topped the Sabres with 17 points, while Dom Caputo (14), Daversa (11) and Zac O’Dell (11) also scored in double digits.

Joe Vogel poured in 29 points and also grabbed 12 rebounds for the Blackbirds.

In a Western Athletic Conference crossover game, Tim Monette’s 18 points and Barclay Hayword’s 15 powered Northville past Middleburgh, 55-53.

Shane Hilland’s 15 points led the Knights.

Evan Ceroalo scored a last-second three-pointer to push Galway over Sharon Springs, 45-44, in another WAC crossover game.

Day John Marshall led the Eagles with 18 points. Greg Ouillete and Tyler Blanchine netted 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Spartans.

Garrett Pitcher scored 24 points and registered his 1,000th career point as Berne-Knox-Westerlo beat Mayfield, 64-55.

Saratoga Central Catholic held off Duanesburg, 61-59, despite 29 points from the Eagles’ Dylan Madison.

Zach Shippee scored 10 of his game-high 18 points in the third quarter to help Corinth top Hadley-Luzerne, 60-44, in the Adirondack League.

Robert Shippee (13), Blake Basmajian (11) and Zac Lucia (10) also scored in twin figures for the 8-7, 8-8 Tomahawks.

Ryan Disher clicked for 23 points, and Nolan Lewis added 16 as Germantown beat New Lebanon, 80-24, in the Central Hudson Valley League.

Rory Siy’s 17 points and 19 rebounds carried Doane Stuart over Hawthorne Valley, 59-45, in another CHVL game.
