Freshman Shereesha Richards scored 22 points to go along with six rebounds, five steals, and two assists, as first-place University at Albany bounced UMBC, 85-41, in an America East Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday night at SEFCU Arena.

The Great Danes remained unbeaten in league play (10-0) and improved to 19-3 overall. They have won 11 straight.

UAlbany used a 12-0 run to grab a 16-4 advantage with 6:56 left to play in the first half. Another 12-0 spurt pushed the Great Danes’ advantage to 30-10 with a little more than two minutes left in the half, and they took a 36-11 advantage into intermission.

The Great Danes continued to roll in the second half, outscoring UMBC, 27-5, with 12 minutes left to play to build a 63-16 cushion before emptying the bench.

Along with Richards, UAlbany got double-digit scoring from 6-foot-8 sophomore center Megan Craig (19 points), senior Julie Forster (12), senior Ebone Henry (10) and senior Lindsey Lowrie (10). Craig also had eight rebounds.
