Because of an approaching winter storm, several events around the Capital Region that are scheduled for Friday or Saturday have either been moved up to today, postponed to a later date or cancelled.

BALLSTON SPA -- Ballston Spa Middle School is staging its first performance of "Disney's My son Pinocchio" tonight instead of Friday evening.

Two other performances are still scheduled for their regular times: a 1 p.m. Saturday matinee and 7 p.m. Saturday evening show. Tickets are $5 tonight and $7 on Saturday.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Springfield Falcons have postponed Friday's game against the Albany Devils in Springfield. The game will be played April 2 at 7 p.m. and tickets for the original date will be valid.

SCHENECTADY -- Pianist Shai Wosner’s concert Friday night at Union College’s Memorial Chapel has been cancelled because of the weather. The concert will not be rescheduled.

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The annual pasta dinner fundraiser scheduled for Friday at Lake Avenue Elementary School in Saratoga Springs has been canceled and rescheduled to Friday, March 1.

TROY -- The Seton Health Food for Thought series presentation "Diabetes and You" originally scheduled for Friday has been moved to Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy, conference room B.

High school sports

Several high school sporting events have been moved up to today or moved back. Following is the latest schedule for today's (Thursday) events.

Due to the impending snowstorm, the Section II Indoor Track and Field Division III, IV Sectionals has been rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 17. The State Qualifier will be moved to Sunday, Feb. 24 and the Great Dane is canceled this year. At this point, there is no change to Sunday's Division I, II track at UAlbany.

Also, the Section II wrestling state qualifier tournament, which was originally scheduled to begin Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Glens Falls Civic Center and run through Saturday night, has been pushed back to Sunday, it was announced today.
