Rider guard Sironda Chambers went 14-for-15 from the foul line and finished with 23 points Friday night as the Broncs defeated Siena, 73-61, in a sloppy Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women’s basketball game at the Alumni Recreation Center that featured 46 personal fouls, 61 free throws and 75 missed shots from the field.

The Saints (9-15, 5-8 MAAC) shot just 27 percent (16-for-59) from the field, and were 2-for-12 from three-point range.

Lily Grenci finished with a double-double for the Saints, scoring 24 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. But she also committed seven turnovers.

Off the court, the game was a success, however, as the Saints celebrated their 13th annual Pink Zone Game, raising money and awareness for breast cancer research in front of a crowd of 1,471.

Rider (12-12, 7-6 MAAC) went on a decisive 14-0 run midway through the second half to snap its 10-game losing streak against the Saints dating back to Jan. 27, 2008.

The Broncs went on an early 15-2 run and raced out to a 21-9 lead at the 12:08 mark and never trailed again.

Rider led, 37-31, at the half and seemed to be pulling away early in the second half before the Saints answered back. Grenci knocked down a jumper to cap a 10-2 run to get Siena as close as 48-45 with 13:22 remaining.

But Siena went scoreless for the next six minutes as Rider used their 14-0 run to put the game away and defeat the Saints for just the fifth time in 34 meetings.

The Saints will look to bounce back when they continue their season-long, four-game homestand Sunday at 2 p.m. against Niagara.
