State police in Schodack say drunken driving was responsible for an accident that killed an 18-year-old Nassau woman early this morning.

Troopers said in a news release that the crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. in the town of Nassau when an eastbound 2001 Isuzu driven by 20-year-old Marian Hubbard of West Sand Lake crossed into the westbound lane of Route 20 and struck a guardrail. The impact caused the vehicle to flip, ejecting rear-seat passenger Alicia Hubbard, 18, of Nassau, troopers said. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle continued to roll over as it careened down an embankment on the side of the road, troopers said, throwing both the driver and the front-seat passenger, 19-year-old Nicole Hubbard of West Sand Lake, out of the car. Nicole Hubbard was the only one wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, troopers said.

The driver, Marian Hubbard, was charged with driving while intoxicated, troopers said. She was taken to Albany Medical Center and was listed in serious condition this morning, according to troopers.

Troopers are asking anyone with information about the accident to call 732-4644.
