An Albany man and two New York City men were arrested after law enforcement officials uncovered hundreds of bags of heroin and other drugs during a search of two Albany homes Wednesday.

At around 10 a.m., Albany detectives and members of the Capital District Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force executed a search warrant at 22 Trinity Place as part of an ongoing drug investigation, according to an Albany police release issued this afternoon. They seized 631 bags of heroin, 74 grams of cocaine, several items used to package and weigh narcotics, and a loaded .380 handgun.

Orlando Hughes, 33, of Albany, and two men from the Bronx — Jason Burgos, 26, and Maite Rodriguez, 30 — were arrested at the scene and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana, and second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Several hours later, officers executed a second search warrant as part of the same investigation on the first floor of 97 Grand St. There, they found another loaded .380 handgun. Hughes was charged with an additional count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

All three were arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
