Albany police are investigating the drive-by shooting of a 23-year-old city man Friday night on First Street.
Officers responded about 11:10 p.m. to the area of Clinton Avenue and Lark Street, where they found a man with a single gunshot wound to his back, according to a police news release. The victim told police that he was shot by someone traveling in a dark-colored vehicle just one block away, in the area of First Street and Henry Johnson Boulevard.
The man was treated at the scene and transported to Albany Medical Center. His wounds were apparently minor enough that he has already been released, police spokesman Steven Smith said.
Police have no suspect or vehicle description at this time.
Smith couldn’t say whether the shooting was random or involved someone the man knew, but the investigation was continuing.
