A man was found on a front porch with a gunshot wound to the head Monday night, according to a preliminary investigation by city police.
Police spokesman Lt. John Catone said that officers responded to a report of gunshots on Jefferson Street shortly after 10:30 p.m. Officers found a man on the front porch of a residence with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The man was transported to Saratoga Hospital and was in critical condition around midnight.
Investigators are reviewing the incident and Catone said a conclusion is expected in the next few days.
Police released information about the shooting because it was public in nature. Normally they do not release information on suicides or attempted suicides.
