Services will be held Sunday for Seth Younes, 18, the Saratoga Springs High School senior who was found dead in his room early Tuesday on the ship Carnival Miracle as it headed into New York City after an eight-day cruise.

An autopsy done by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City on Wednesday did not determine a cause of death and the office is awaiting the results of tissue and toxicology tests. No foul play is suspected but the FBI is investigating the death as a standard measure, said Vance Gulliksen, a spokesman for Carnival Cruise Lines.

The Carnival Miracle left New York City on Feb. 18, stopped in Port Canaveral on Feb. 21, Nassau on Feb. 22, Freeport on Feb. 23 and returned to New York Harbor on Feb. 26. Younes was on the cruise with family members during the high school’s winter break week.

Younes was born Dec. 13, 1994, to Asa and Debra Younes. He worked at the Saratoga National Golf Course and played defense on the Saratoga High Blue Streaks lacrosse team. School officials said he was a popular student in good academic standing and respectful of his teachers.

Younes hoped to study business administration in college and perhaps become a New York state trooper like his grandfather, according to his obituary.

Seth is survived by his mother and stepfather, Debra and Matthew Sheldon; father and stepmother, Asa Younes and Valerina Hamilton; brothers, Joshua Kelly, Devon Bovee, Nicholas Seitzinger; sisters, Alexis Younes and Rylie Sheldon; grandparents Asa and Connie Younes, Richard and Ellen Sheldon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday with a services starting at 4 p.m. at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes at 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Friends and family will attend a post-funeral gathering from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at The Prime at Saratoga National Golf Course on Union Avenue in Saratoga Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made directly to the family or in Seth’s name to the NICU, Albany Medical Center, 43 New Scotland Ave., MC 119, Albany, NY 12208.
