WORCESTER. Mass. — Junior center Dominykas Milka had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds Sunday to lead The College of Saint Rose to a 67-64 victory over Assumption in the quarter­finals of the Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball tournament.

The Golden Knights (15-13) will travel to Manchester, N.H., to play Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Saint Rose led by five on two occasions late in the competitive second half, but Assumption (20-7) cut the lead to 65-64 on a pair of free throws with three seconds left.

The Greyhounds quickly fouled on the inbounds pass, but freshman Tyler Sayer scored the last of his 14 points on two free throws to seal the victory.


Milka 5-5-15, Sayre 6-2-14, Pope 3-5-14, Thomas 4-2-11, Mundweiler 2-2-7, Dorgler 3-0-6. Totals: 23-16-67.

BROOKHAVEN — Dowling scored four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Golden Knights in a non-conference game.

Junior Brett McAuliffe led Saint Rose (0-3) with three goals.

Seven advance

DURHAM, N.H. — Seven members of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute wrestling team, including 197-pounder Omar Abdoun of Niskayuna and 184-pounder Stuart Curtis of Albany, have earned spots in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association championships, to be held March 14-16 in Dallas.

Abdoun and Curtis both finished fourth in their respective weight classes over the weekend at the Northeast Conference Champ­ionships. in which the top five in each weight class advanced. Also securing spots in the nationals were Alex Vogel (third, 125), Will Bonagura (second, 165) and Enrico Cascio (fifth, 174), while Ray Douglas (sixth, 197) and Brad Huizinga (seventh, 285) earned wild-card spots.

GREENBORO, N.C. — The Spartans scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th when the Great Danes misplayed an infield fly.

Nolan Gaige hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the eighth that gave the Danes (1-7) a 7-3 lead.

CONWAY, S.C. — Junior Lauren Alcorn went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs as the Great Danes wrapped up their apperance in the Coastal Carolina Invitational with a 4-1 record.

Catcher Lindsey Scott’s home run in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the winning run for the Danes (4-5).
