A Gloversville man was arrested upon his return from a trip to New York City for allegedly leaving his two children alone while he was away.
According to Gloversville Police, Jonathan Morrison, 38, of 17 Allen St., went to New York on Friday. His two sons, ages 8 and 12, went to school as usual, but Morrison wasn’t there to pick them up.
“When the older one went by the younger kid’s school to pick him up,” Capt. John Sira said, “school staff weren’t comfortable with the situation and tried to call Morrison.” When Morrision didn’t pick up, they called the children’s mother, who also lives in the city, to pick them up. The kids told her what happened and she contacted the police.
Upon further investigation, police found they had been alone and unsupervised for over 24 hours.
Morrison was arrested, arraigned in Gloversville City Court and released on his own recognizance. He faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and is due back in court March 11.
Officials could not comment on where the children are currently living.
