A Sunday stabbing left one man in critical condition and another facing a high-level assault count, police said.

The incident happened just before 4:30 p.m. at Yates Village. There, 24-year-old Sean T. Gaillard used a “cutting instrument” to stab another man several times, according to papers filed in court.

The victim, identified as Marcus J. Reid, 27, of Schenectady, was taken to Albany Medical Center for surgery. He was listed Monday in critical condition, police said.

Gaillard was charged with first-degree assault, a felony that carries up to 25 years in state prison. He remained at the Schenectady County Jail on Monday.
