A 41-year-old Mechanicville man was charged today with grand larceny and falsifying business records for allegedly stealing more than $6,000 from the Little Falls Little League while acting as league president last year.
The Little Falls Police Department said Edward P. Popiel’s arrest stems from an investigation into the theft, which happened during the 2012 season. Popiel was president of the league in 2012, according to police.
The league's Board of Trustees contacted police to investigate the missing money.
Popiel was arraigned in Little Falls City Court and released to reappear at a later date.
