A man had his face slashed open and part of his ear cut off on Grand Avenue at some time before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to Saratoga Springs Police Lt. John Catone, officers responded to the Saratoga Hospital a little after 8:30 p.m., when they were alerted to a man who walked into the emergency room with a serious injury to the left side of his head. Officers were notified by hospital staff that the man had part of his left ear cut off and the side of his face was slashed open.
A preliminary interview with the victim indicated the attack occurred after or during a cookout on the city's west side. Officers then went to a location on Grand Avenue, Catone said, and took a suspect into custody late Tuesday night. Police believe this single suspect, whose identity was not release, was the only assailant.
An investigation is ongoing and more details will be released on Wednesday morning.
