Two men and a woman were charged with felony assault and burglary today for allegedly breaking into an apartment early Saturday morning and beating a man with a hammer and other blunt objects and kicking him.
The victim, who was also threatened with a knife in the gang assault, was taken to Saratoga Hospital and treated for head and body injuries and released later Saturday, city police said.
The incident on April 6 at the Whitmore Court Apartments off Crescent Street in Saratoga Springs started with Theodore B. Pamper, 24, of Route 9P in Malta being removed from a party he was attending in one of the apartments, police said.
“Pamper was escorted out of the party but returned an hour later (about 4 a.m.) with his friends and broke into the apartment and assaulted the victim,” said Lt. John Catone of the Saratoga Springs Police Department.
Police identified Pamper along with Ryan J. Barber, 25, and Aubrey L. Barber, 30, both of Route 9P in Malta, as those who broke into the apartment and beat the victim. Two other men were also identified as assailants but have not yet been charged.
Pamper, who was charged with felony counts of burglary and assault, and Aubrey Barber, who was charged with felony burglary, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, and Ryan Barber, who was charged with felony assault, were arrested on warrants Thursday afternoon and arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court. Pamper was taken to Saratoga County Jail for lack of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bail bond. Ryan and Aubrey Barber were taken to county jail for lack of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond.
