Potent inning propels Sabres

Joe Wignot and Tyler Smith hit RBI doubles, and John Pascarella hit an RBI triple, all in the sixth inning, as Schalmont rallied to beat Albany Academy, 9-6, Thursday, to pick up its first Colonial Council baseball win of the season.

Jim Hamilton gave up only four hits in getting the pitching win for the 1-2, 3-2 Sabres.

Sean Dempsey had two hits for the 2-1, 3-1 Cadets.

Kyle Pentak and Tim Hughes both had a pair of singles, a double and drove in three runs, as Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk beat Ichabod Crane, 16-3, in the Colonial. Kyle Almindo also drove in three runs for the 1-1, 2-3 Indians,

Chris Miller and Matt Buckley both had two hits and drove in two runs as Shenendehowa beat Ballston Spa, 11-4, in a Suburban Council game.

The Plainsmen spotted the Scotties a 4-0 lead before scoring five runs in the home second.

Dan Crozier singled, doubled and drove in two runs for Ballston Spa.

Tyler Oppelt’s two-run single with one out in the home seventh gave Shaker a 9-8 win over Averill Park.

Shaker scored four times in the last of the seventh. Tyler Hoffman belted a three-run homer for the 3-0 Blue Bison in the third inning.

Lewis Lima hit a home run and double, driving in three runs, as Guilderland bested Mohonasen, 16-1.

Cory Moore, Brandon Rathwell and Patrick Verrelli also hit homers for the Dutchmen, who got a combined three-hitter from Tim Coppinger and Nick Bruno.

Jordan Cotton, Tyler Beck and Vinny DeTrapano had singles for the Mighty Warriors.

J.T. Sawyer had three hits and scored three runs to back John Rooney’s five innings of three-hit, shutout pitching as Hoosic Valley topped Granville, 10-0, in the Wasaren League.

Nico Dumas had three run-scoring singles, leading Mechanicville past Cambridge, 8-6, in a non-league game.

Alec Hall-St. Gelais added a two-run double, Ryan Losavio had three hits and Zach Perras gave up just four singles and fanned 10 in 62⁄3 innings.

SABRES UNBEATEN

Eighth-grader Savanna Liverio singled in a run, and Emily McLaughlin also knocked in a run as Schalmont beat Albany Academy, 3-0, in a Colonial Council game.

Lauren Mahar struck out 11 for the 3-0 Lady Sabres

Becca Smith struck out 13 for the Academy, which got a pair of base hits from Carlyann Geddes.

Dayanna Stevens hit a two-out, run-scoring double in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk a 3-2 win over Ichabod Crane in a another Colonial game.

Bailey Kross had an RBI single ahead of Stevens to tie the game, scoring Ashley Houk, who had doubled.

Courtney Hilligas had a single, triple and three RBI, as Shenen-

dehowa beat Ballston Spa, 8-2, in the Suburban Council.

Kelly Barkevich and Erin Buckley both added a pair of hits for the Lady Plainsmen, who had Erika Daigle throw a four-hitter.

Nicole Trevor gave up two hits and struck six, and Broadalbin-Perth scored an unearned run in the seventh inning to beat Scotia-Glenville, 1-0, in the Foothills Council.

Scotia’s Jen Mayette also had a two-hitter, striking out 12. Catcher Lauren Melanson had both Scotia base hits.

Luke Maloney fired in eight goals Thursday as Niskayuna beat

Colonie, 19-6, in a Suburban Council game.

Mike D’Amario added four goals for the Silver Warriors, who had a 12-4 lead at the half.

Mike Mineau acounted for five of Colonie’s goals.

Billy Chapman had three goals, and Tom Reed made 10 saves, as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake defeated Bethlehem, 8-4.

Brian Rogers scored five goals and assisted on two more as Shenendehowa topped Guilderland, 12-7. Stephen Polsinelli and Brad Johnson both had tow goals for the Dutchmen.

Ryan Conway scored four goals, and Ben Willows had two, leading Queensbury past Scotia-Glenville, 7-4, in a Foothills Council contest.

Four different players scored a goals for the Tartans.

Stephen Rehfuss had three goals as Shaker beat Albany Academy, 14-6, in a non-league game.

Anna Picardi added a three-goal, three-assist effort, and Jill Macri, Katie Alden and Cat Sexton all contributed a pair of goals for Niskayuna.

Amy LeBel scored four goals as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake topped Bethlehem, 12-7.

Nicole Beardsley and Mackenzie LeVan both added three goals for the Lady Spartans, Kaylee Rickert had five goals for Bethlehem.

Julia Lennon’s seven goals, and a six-goal, 10-point game from Madeline Devine, helped Shaker down Averill Park, 23-4.

Hannah Wise and Molly Kern both had three goals as Saratoga Springs downned Glens Falls,

10-7, in a non-league game.
