A Cohoes man pleaded guilty this morning to one count of second-degree assault, admitting he stabbed a man in November.
Wayne Conine, 50, admitted in Albany County Court that he approached a person he knew on the street and stabbed him with a knife multiple times in the back, side and neck just before 3 a.m. Nov. 4 in Cohoes. Witnesses reported the pair had an argument before the incident. The victim was able to get to the A-Plus Minimart on Ontario Street, where police were called.
The blade of the knife broke off and was recovered by Cohoes police near the scene, according to a news release from Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares.
Conine faces between 6 and 6 1/2 years in prison, followed by 3 years of post-release supervision, when he is sentenced May 29.
