High schools: Eagles give Conway 300th coaching win

Erika Kenny and Tori Powers combined on a three-hitter, Hannah McGuire continued her torrid hitting and John Conway got his 300th coaching win Wednesday as Duanesburg beat Fort Plain, 11-2, in a Western Athletic Conference softball game.

McGuire went 5-for-5 and drove in two runs. She has nine hits in her last 10 at-bats and is 10-for-18 for the season for the 4-0 Eagles.

Steph Rice had three singles, and Rachel Gamache had a single, a triple and knocked in three runs to help Conway get his milestone win in his 14th season.

Cat Kelly’s RBI single followed Myah Ondreyko’s grand slam as Saratoga Central Catholic scored five runs in the seventh inning to edge Canajoharie, 14-13.

Ondreyko’s grand slam pulled the unbeaten Lady Saints into a 13-13 tie. Natalie Pikus then singled, and Kelly hit her game-winning single.

Bri Slater, Shy Logan and Lauren Balfe all homered for the Cougars.

Nicole Little had a pair of hits as Mayfield downed Galway, 7-5, in the WAC.

In a game matching sisters in the pitching circle, Katie Green threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Middleburgh beat Sharon Springs, 5-2. Emily Jenkins knocked in a pair of runs for the Lady Knights. Sarah Green had a hit and RBI off her sister.

Gabbie Litz had a three-hitter, and Ali Frary had two hits and two RBI as Niskayuna blanked Guilderland, 3-0, in the Suburban Council. Jackie O’Brien added a double and two singles for the Lady Warriors.

Mikayla Shade’s leadoff home run in the sixth inning gave Bethlehem a 1-0 win over Ballston Spa.

Alana VanDenburg’s sacrifice fly got the winning run home in the seventh inning as unbeaten Columbia rallied past Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 3-2. Leah Pennings doubled and drove in two runs for the Lady Spartans.

Julia Holland had two hits and two RBI as Shaker defeated Mohonasen, 7-2. Taylor Thompson drove in both Mohonasen runs.

Lauren Mahar threw a five-hitter, and Emily McLaughlin drove in three runs as unbeaten Schalmont downed Voorheesville, 5-1, in the Colonial Council.

Erika Gogis had three bunt singles and scored three runs for the 4-0 Lady Sabres.

Kirstyn Alonzo’s five-hit shutout got Mechanicville past Lansingburgh, 11-0. Erin Maloney led the offense for 4-0 Mechanicville with three singles and four runs batted in. Kali DeMarco added a two-run double for the Lady Raiders.

Joelle Salisbury fired a two-hitter and struck out 13, and went 3-for-4 with a solo homer at the plate, as Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons blanked Schenectady, 9-0, in the Big 10.

Aiyana McIntytre homered and knocked in four runs, and Alyssa Salisbury had three hits and knocked in two runs for the Lady Knights.

Julie Miller’s three-hitter helped Amsterdam top Bishop Maginn, 16-1, in the Big 10.

Tierney Hornback had three hits, and both Hannah Sheehan and Irales Morales had two for Amsterdam.

Tristan Schneider and Rochelle Baker both had two hits as South Glens Falls got past Scotia-Glenville, 4-2, in the Foothills Council.

Hannah Angelo and Lyla Day both had two hits for the Lady Tartans.

Nicole Sheloski had three hits and three RBI as Hudson Falls bested Broadalbin-Perth, 9-1, in the Foothills. Caitlin Rasefske had two hits for B-P.

Alexis Case’s two-run triple keyed a four-run third inning as Greenwich topped Stillwater, 5-0, in the Wasaren League. Sarah Heimbach held the Lady Warriors to four base hits.

Ange Stephano hit a home run and drove in two runs as Loudonville Christian beat Germantown, 12-11, in the Central Hudson Valley League.

Yasmin Fabian tripled and drove in two runs as Doane Stuart beat Heatly, 21-5, for its first CHVL win of the season.
