The Schenectady County Department of Environmental Health has issued a boil-water advisory for a portion of Glenridge Road in Glenville because of a broken water main.

Residents in the area of 28 through 47 Glenridge Road including all units of the Glenridge Apartments are asked to boil water or use bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food. The water should be boiled for 1 minute and then cooled before drinking.

Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water. Harmful microbes in drinking water can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, some elderly and people with severely compromised immune systems.

The broken water main is currently under repair and it is anticipated that the problem will be resolved within a few days.
