A 19-year-old University at Albany student was arrested early Saturday morning after police said he drove through a stop sign at the intersection of Ontario and Mercer streets and hit a police car.
The two officers were on routine patrol in the marked Albany police car when they were hit around 2 a.m. Both officers were treated at the scene by the Albany Fire Department and taken to Albany Medical Center with minor injuries. They have since been released.
The driver, Rory Edelson, was allegedly found to be intoxicated and in possession of a forged driver’s license.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of a forged instrument, and cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. He was arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court.
