The pilot of a small plane is hospitalized after his aircraft nose-dived into a rural field in Rensselaer County.
Witnesses say the single-engine plane was flying in circles before it crashed early Sunday afternoon about 100 yards from a home in the village of Hoosick Falls, near the Vermont border 30 miles northeast of Albany.
The homeowners witnessed the crash and ran to the plane, where they found the pilot injured but conscious. Officials haven’t released the pilot’s name, but witnesses say he identified himself as Stanton King, a local lawyer.
He was listed in critical condition at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center but had been taken to another hospital. No other information was available.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
