Mayor Jerry Jennings and Tulip Festival Chair Marcus Pryor will introduce the five finalists for 2013 Tulip Queen at a press conference Wednesday.
The finalists will appear in Albany City Hall's Corning Park (behind City Hall) at 11:00 a.m.
The five finalists were chosen through an interview process. There were 70 nominations. Nominees were interviewed by the Tulip Queen & Court Selection Committee, a panel of judges from the community that includes prior Tulip Queen & Court members. The finalists were chosen based on their community service and leadership skills as well as their knowledge of Albany.
The Queen will be crowned at the Tulip Festival at noon on Saturday, May 11, on the Lakehouse Amphitheater Stage in Washington Park.
The Tulip Queen & Court spend their year of reign involved with many community education initiatives and coordinate programs each year for the mayor's literacy campaign.
The 65th annual Albany Tulip Festival will be held May 11 and 12. For more festival information, click here.
