Former Gov. David A. Paterson will be the keynote speaker today at noon for the centennial celebration of the state Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped.
The event will be held at the Albany Hilton at 40 Lodge St.
The CBVH, established in 1913, works on behalf of New Yorkers who are legally blind.
The commission partners with vision services organizations to provide services to blind and visually impaired people of all ages.
The services include vocational rehabilitation, orientation and mobility training, independent living skills training and employment counseling and placement.
In addition, the CBVH Business Enterprise Program provides management skills training, stock loans and necessary equipment to assist legally blind entrepreneurs in operating newsstands, snack bars and convenience stores in government buildings.
CBVH operates within the state Office of Children and Family Services.
