In a battle of Colonial Council baseball division leaders Thursday, Lansingburgh edged Schalmont, 1-0, in a pitchers’ duel.

The Knights (9-1 Colonial Council, 9-6 overall) got on the board in the home fifth when Jarrod Jarosz doubled and later scored on a wild pitch. Brandon Bombard kept the Sabres’ bats quiet with 10 strikeouts while walking four and allowing three hits.

Chris Amorosi struck out six for Schalmont (7-4, 10-4) and walked none, hitting one batter and allowing four hits.

The Sabres had the bases loaded in the third inning with one out when John Pascarella hit the ball to the right side, where it struck the runner leaving first base, resulting in an out and all runners returning to their bases. Bombard struck out the next batter to escape unscathed.

Mechanicville (4-6 Colonial, 7-8 overall) scored eight runs in the home sixth to beat Fonda-Fultonville, 11-10. Scott Leonard drove in the Red Raiders’ 11th run with a two-out single. Adam Dunn added three singles in the game, and Ryan Losavio had two.

The Braves (5-4, 6-5) were led by Patrick Hart with two doubles and three RBI, while Baylee Hall added three singles and two RBI. Kevin Myers had two hits and a sacrifice fly.

Bishop Maginn’s Joey Deso was 4-for-4 with two doubles in a 15-12 Big 10 win over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.

Nick Ricci doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs in the win. Darrien Higgins added three hits.

Bishop Gibbons got two singles from Mike Belcher and two doubles from Clinton Wagner.

LaSalle’s Tyler Gagnon hit a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth to put the Cadets ahead of Amsterdam in a 5-4 win.

Jake Bernardo had an RBI single to pull LaSalle (10-2, 11-5) within a run in the home fifth. Seamus Kelley doubled, singled and score a run.

Shawn King struck out five and walked two while holding Middleburgh to just two hits in Mekeel Christian Academy’s 7-1 Western Athletic Conference win.

Tyler Guido had two hits and scored twice for the Lions (7-4, 8-4), and Spencer Bath tripled and scored a run.

In non-league action, Carter Knapek struck out eight and allowed just three hits in seven innings as Albany Academy topped Albany, 7-2.

Ian Bennett and Jake Mayette were both 3-for-4 for Academy (8-5), Bennett with three RBI and Mayette with one.

Niskayuna beat Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 8-3, with a triple, double and single from Lucas Teti. Mike Landry and Garrett Whitley both doubled for the Silver Warriors (5-7).
