A Montgomery County man is facing public lewdness charges after police say he masturbated while ogling members of a county public works crew washing down a bridge Thursday afternoon.

Jeffery C. Smith, 49, of 138 Dunlap Road, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor public lewdness, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said workers were hosing down the bridge that crosses the South Chuctanunda Creek when they watched as a man walked out of his house and stood near an outbuilding, in view of the work. Workers told police they saw the man peeking around the corner of the building, and when they went to see what was going on, they found him masturbating.

The crew members told police they yelled at Smith before heading off to refill their water truck. When they returned, witnesses said Smith came back outside and again started masturbating behind the shed. Workers captured the acts on their cellphones, according to police.

Smith was issued a ticket to appear May 16 in Florida Town Court.
