The Price Rite supermarket in Crosstown Plaza was evacuated for more than an hour tonight after police received a report of suspicious packages left outside.

Rotterdam police Lt. Tom Culbert said they received a call about 7:10 p.m. about more than five red packages sitting by a trash can in front of the store. The store was evacuated, and a bomb-sniffing dog was brought in from the Schenectady Police Department.

After the dog indicated the boxes contained no explosives, police opened them and found they were empty. Customers and staff were allowed back in the store about 8:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
