School Lacrosse: Guilderland cruises past Columbia

The Guilderland girls’ lacrosse team moved a step closer to its sixth consecutive unbeaten Suburban

The Guilderland girls’ lacrosse team moved a step closer to its sixth consecutive unbeaten Suburban Council season with a 22-5 victory over Columbia Wednesday.

Shannon Mackesey piled up a career-high nine points on four goals and five assists to spark the Lady Dutch, who improved to 12-0 in the league with a game remaining against Bethlehem, and 13-1 overall.

Morgan Hardt had four goals and an assist for Guilderland, and Cara Quimby notched four goals. Gabby Childrose scored three goals for Columbia.

Shaker (12-1, 12-1) got four goals and five assists from Maddie Devine in a 19-1 triumph over Ballston Spa.

Sarah Cheney had two goals and two assists for the Blue Bison.

Kristen Connors scored three goals, and Kelly Wall had two goals and two assists as Shenendehowa (10-3, 11-3) edged Niskayuna, 11-10.

Kelly Schlansker paced the Silver Warriors (8-5, 9-5) with four goals.

Nicole Beardsley scored five goals and set up another, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (9-4, 9-4) beat Saratoga Springs, 11-10.

Beardsley has scored multiple goals in 13 straight games. Molly Kern had three goals and two assists for the Blue Streaks.

Jake Quay and Liam King scored three apiece, and South Division-leading Shaker pulled away in the second half to beat Ballston Spa, 15-5, in a Suburban Council game.

Stephen Rehfuss had three goals and an assist for Shaker (9-1, 12-1). Coltin Moseman fired in three goals for the Scotties.

Cody Dyer collected five goals and an assist, Stephen Polsinelli scored four goals, and Jake Smith had four assists to lift Guilderland (8-4, 9-5) over Columbia, 12-6.

Dyer has 21 goals in his last four games. Brendan Purcel scored three goals for Columbia.

Albany Academy edged Bethlehem, 5-4, and LaSalle slipped past Queensbury, 10-8, in non-league games.

Dillon Flood had two goals for Academy. Brad Bettinger scored twice for the Eagles.

Mark Uhlig paced LaSalle with four goals, and Jake Richards and Dan Marcelle both had two goals and two assists. Mike Carpenter had three goals and an assist for Queensbury.
