School Tennis: Eagles No. 1 seed, get bye in 'AA'

Bethlehem, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, LaSalle and Lake George drew the top seeds for the Section II

Bethlehem, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, LaSalle and Lake George drew the top seeds for the Section II tennis team sectionals, which begin today.

Bethlehem drew the bye as the top seed in Class AA, as did No. 2 seed Guilderland, third-seeded Saratoga Springs, No. 4 Shenendehowa and fifth-seeded Ballston Spa.

Niskayuna (No. 6) hosts Columbia (No. 11), No. 9 Shaker goes to No. 8 Albany, and seventh-seeded Schenectady hosts No. 10 Colonie today as the ‘AA’ tourney opens.

The top six Class A teams drew byes, with No. 9 Mohonasen going to Troy, and No. 7 Christian Brothers Academy hosting Averill Park today.

Eighth-seeded Schalmont hosts No. 9 Granville today in the only Class B match. The Class C/D tournament opens Monday.

All of today’s winners move on to Monday’s scheduled quarter-finals.

Top four seeds

Class AA — Bethlehem, Guilderland, Saratoga Springs, Shenendehowa.

Class A — Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Albany Academy, Queensbury, Scotia-Glenville.

Classs B — LaSalle, Ichabod Crane, Taconic Hills, Coxsackie-Athens.

Class C/D — Lake George, Maple Hill, Doane Stuart, Hadley-Luzerne.
