Lacrosse: Scotia boys nudge past Queensbury to create tie in Foothills

Nick McCloskey had two goals and two assists, and Scotia-Glenville held off Queensbury, 7-6, to create a tie for first place in the Foothill Council lacrosse standings on Friday.

Sam Carmola scored two goals for the Tartans (6-1, 11-3), and a goal by McCloskey gave them a 7-3 third-quarter lead.

Scotia-Glenville was the last team to beat Queensbury (6-1, 9-6) in a Foothills Council game in May of 2011.

Ben Willows had two goals and an assist for the Spartans, and Braden Kietzman and Mike Carpenter notched two goals apiece.

Mike D’Amario piled up four goals and five assists, and Niskayuna rolled past Ballston Spa, 16-4, in the Suburban Council.

Luke Goldstock and Lucas Maloney both had three goals and an assist for the Silver Warriors (11-0, 14-0).

Jake Smith led a balanced Guild-erland (9-4, 10-5) offense with three goals an an assist, and the Dutchmen played shutout ball in the first half in an 11-3 victory over Bethlehem.

Joe Mineau scored four goals, Alex Lander fired in three, and Mike Mineau had a goal and three assists in Colonie’s 14-8 non-league win over Albany Academy.

GIRLS

Michigan recruit Kelly Schlansker scored a career-high seven goals, and Niskayuna posted a first-half shutout in beating Ballston Spa, 15-3, to close out its Suburban Council schedule.

Bri Sacks had a pair of goals for Niskayuna (9-5, 10-5).

Morgan Lionarions scored five goals and set up another, and Averill Park (3-11, 5-11) defeated Colonie, 14-6.
