Veteran attorney Verner joins Herzog Law Firm

ALBANY — Attorney Kimberly Strauchon Verner has joined the Herzog Law Firm. Verner received her bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany and her Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School.

Bringing 15 years of legal experience, Verner will concentrate her practice in the areas of elder law, special needs planning, general estate planning and estate administration. She also currently serves on the board of directors for the Living Resources Certified Home Health Agency and the Capital District Center for Independence. She is a frequent community speaker on the topics of special-needs trusts, planning for individuals with disabilities, long-term care planning and Medicaid and general estate planning.

The Herzog Law Firm has offices in Albany, Saratoga and Kingston.

Law firm adds paralegal Tremmel

ALBANY — The law firm of Rowlands & LeBrou has added paralegal Susan Tremmel to the firm.

Tremmel brings 33 years of experience in the administration of trusts, estates, guardianships, IRAs and pension and investment accounts to the firm.

Established in 2011 by Richard E. Rowlands and James J. LeBrou, the firm provides legal advice and assistance in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, elder law, Medicaid planning, business law and real estate law.

Ad agency wins visual arts awards

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Fingerpaint, an advertising agency, was recently recognized for its work by the International Academy of Visual Arts (IAVA).

The Communicator Awards are sanctioned and judged by the IAVA, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, communications, advertising, creative and marketing firms. With more than 6,000 entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, the Communicator Awards recognize big ideas in marketing and communications.

Fingerpaint received a gold award of excellence in the print advertising campaign category for ads created for Spruce Computer Systems. The agency also received a silver award of distinction in the social/networking category for its own Fingerpaint social media sites.

Credit union hires new loan manager

LATHAM — Community Resource Federal Credit Union recently hired Susan Munks as loan manager. Munks is responsible for overseeing loan processing and underwriting as well as collections, repossessions and foreclosures.

Munks relocated from Minnesota, where she was vice president of operations at SMW Federal Credit Union. She has 32 years of credit union experience, having worked for two credit unions as a branch manager in the Capital Region before moving to Minnesota.

Bonadio Group promotes Walther

ALBANY — The Bonadio Group, upstate New York’s largest independent provider of accounting, consulting and financial services, has promoted Alan Walther to office managing partner in Albany. He has been a partner in Bonadio’s government, compliance and labor division.

Walther has more than 25 years of accounting experience and has been with the Bonadio Group since the firm’s merger with Dorfman-Robbie Group in 2008.

Walther will continue to provide business, accounting and auditing services for a variety of clients, including state agencies, towns, cities, counties, libraries and school districts for the Bonadio Group. He lives in Clifton Park.

Real estate firm adds salesperson

COLONIE — The Falvey Real Estate Group recently added Cassandra Franklin as a licensed salesperson to the Craig LeClaire Team. Franklin is a lifelong resident of the Capital Region and has more than five years of sales, customer service and promotional marketing experience. She studied music industry at SUNY Broome and marketing at Hudson Valley Community College. Franklin’s focus will be residential resale and first-time home buyers.

Divorce mediation business opens

MALTA — Michele Martin, financial adviser and divorce mediator, has launched Divorce Agree, a business offering divorce mediation services.

Mediation is a non-adversarial and cost-effective option available to divorcing couples. Prior to training to be a divorce mediator, Martin spent 20 years in the financial services industry and holds the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst designation. A CDFA assists clients to understand how the financial decisions made today will affect their financial future.

Martin launched Divorce Agree to provide mediation services to couples in the greater Capital Region. The office is located in Malta Commons Business Park in Malta.
