Zombies heading to Albany

British Invasion band to play free show at Empire State Plaza June 26

The Zombies, the British rock band best know for hits “She’s Not There” and “The Time of the Season,” are heading to Albany.

The band announced on its website plans to play a free concert June 26 at the Empire State Plaza as part of Albany’s Summer at The Plaza series.

The band was formed in 1961 by Colin Blunstone on lead vocal and Rod Argent on piano and vocals. The two still lead the current band, which embarked on a 50th anniversary tour in May of 2011 in support of two new albums, one live (“Live in the UK”) and one studio (“Breathe In, Breathe Out”).

As part of its summer tour, The Zombies will also play a free concert in New York City’s Central Park on June 15.
