SCHENECTADY — Tyler Mochrie, a freshman bowler from Colonie High School, and Tierney McGlynn, a sophomore guard from Watervliet, were named the Schenectady County Community College male and female athletes of the year.

Mochrie led the Royals to their first-ever national championship in any sport when SCCC upset two-time defending national champion Vincennes of Indiana in the NJCAA Bowling Championships. He was named a first-team NJCAA All-American.

McGlynn led the Royals to a Region III playoff berth in basketball and topped the team in every statistical category.
