Shaker scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning to end Schenectady’s baseball season in the Section II Class AA quarterfinals Monday, 6-2.

The No. 4 Blue Bison (15-6) trailed, 2-0, after the top of the third inning, but tied it up in the home fifth. Sean Egan had a pair of RBI singles, and both Steven Cox and Garrett Klahr had RBI singles.

Schenectady (No. 5, 12-8) got a single and a double from Nick Patierne.

Shaker advances to today’s semifinals to play No. 8 Guilderland, a 9-6 winner over top-seeded Columbia. The Dutchmen (11-11) got a grand slam from Joe Bender in the second inning to take a 5-1 lead. Bender also singled.

Ben Goval hit a two-run home run and a single for Guilderland, and winning pitcher Lewis Lima had a single, double and an RBI.

Columbia (17-4) got a three-run home run and a single from Will Gorman. Ryan Henchey had three singles and an RBI, and Ian Cooper had a single and a double.

LaSalle (No. 2, 16-5) beat Bethlehem, 4-3, in the home seventh as Justin Sportman’s sacrifice bunt was thrown away, allowing Dom Razzano to score the winner from first base. The Cadets will face No. 3 Shenendehowa in the semifinals today.

Sportman also pushed a run across by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the second inning, and Jake Bernardo singled in a run.

Mike DiNapoli lifted a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning, pulling the Eagles (No. 7, 15-6) within a run, then drove in another run with an infield single in the top of the seventh to tie the game, 3-3.

In Class A, Noah Cipperly hit the eventual game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the fifth for top-seeded Lansingburgh in a 2-1 win over No. 8 Catholic Central.

Cipperly’s hit drove in Bobby Gould, who reached base with an infield single earlier in the inning. Connor McDonough doubled for Lansingburgh (14-7).

Catholic Central (11-10) got a single and a run from Luke Hansen.

Voorheesville beat No. 15 Mechanicville, 3-0, in a Class C quarterfinal. The No. 10 Blackbirds (15-7) got a home run from Nico Church, while freshman Nick Chiseri allowed just three hits, striking out eight in the shutout. Mike Young had an RBI double, and Mike Hennessy added an RBI single.

Mechanicville finishes at 9-13.

Voorheesville will face No. 14 Stillwater today in the semis.

Class B’s top seed, Chatham, needed 11 innings to beat No. 8 Albany Academy, 7-6. It moves on to face No. 4 Schalmont today in the semifinals.

Chatham improved to 15-4, and Albany Academy dropped to 12-9.

In Class D, No. 3 Loudonville Christian School scored a 13-12 win over No. 6 Salem, which finishes at 9-10.

Loudonville Christian School (11-5) will face No. 2 Germantown in today’s semifinals.
